Introduction

The Central Library of Prasannadeb Women’s College was established in 1950. It functions as a ‘Knowledge Centre’ through developing and providing continuous access to information resources and services through e-channel as well as through traditional system for students and teachers. It has more than 35000 books including text books and precious references. The library introduced computerized circulation with barcode system since 2012. Software ALMS (Academic Library Management Software) is used for barcoding, digital maintenance of records of books. The library subscribes some of the leading journals in Science, Social Science and Literature. E-books and E-journals are available for the library users under “National Library and Information Services Infrastructure for Scholarly Content (N-LIST)” Program. New books are purchased by the library at regular intervals. The library also provides internet facility, newspaper reading facility, Xerox and print facility for previous year questions and syllabus and other e-documents to the users. Library Rules

• Library Card is compulsory for all enrolled students for availing library facilities.
• Library Card will be issued by the librarian on presentation of admission receipt.
• In case of any grievances the users should contact to the Librarian or to the Principal.
• All the users must put their signature with arrival time in the library register book at the time of entering and departure time at the time of leaving.
• Readers of the library may recommend books for procurement. The library will procure the books and journals on approval by the Library Committee.
• The readers shall maintain perfect order and silence within the library premises.
• Mobile phones are not allowed within the library premises.
• Indiscipline/ misbehavior of the student will be liable for the disciplinary action.
